This recipe is very special. It was given to me by my best friends mom. It comes from the hollyhock cookbook. Hollyhock is a learning center (spa? retreat? cult?) on Cortes Island, British Columbia. I never even especially liked salads until I had this dressing. It legitimately changed my life. Anyways on to the recipe…

1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

1/3 cup water

1/3 cup tamari

1-4 cloves garlic

1/2 cup nutritional yeast

1/2 cup olive oil

2 tablespoons tahini

blend

I usually cut the recipe in half when I make it. This is seriously the best dressing ever though. I can’t emphasize this enough. Enjoy.

My standard work lunch salad. Spinach (or kale) topped with quinoa, shredded beets, shredded carrots, steamed mushrooms, dried crans, and pumpkin seeds with a homemade nutritional yeast dressing. Hands down my favorite salad to quickly throw together before a shift.

Taco salad that I’m taking to work tonight with steamed...

Taco salad that I’m taking to work tonight with steamed kale, corn, daiya cheese, simple guac, tomatoes, and raw walnut and sundried tomato taco meat. If I were smart there would be a neat mound of tortilla chips in the middle to round this dish out. But I’m not smart so I forgot to buy them and am going to have to buy them at work.

roserosaroisin replied to your photo: Cruelty free nail polish: Butter London.
vegan doesn’t mean nontoxic! be careful about reading labels and making sure what you put on your body is safe.

This brand is also formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP (dibutyl phtalate) free. I don’t know what those technically are but they sound bad! Last summer my sister read in a magazine that melon and ginger pair perfectly together and she became obsessed with making watermelon ginger juice. Recently I tried the same thing with cantaloupe and it is my new favorite juice. I just juice a whole cantaloupe and grate a ton of ginger into it. For this one I added the pulp back into it, which isn’t as enjoyable but my compost has mysteriously disappeared again so I’m trying to cut back on kitchen waste. I haven’t tried it with honey dew yet but I’m looking forward to it. Seriously try this or with watermelon. It’s the bomb.

Q’ia cereal for breakfast this morning. This stuff is...

Q’ia cereal for breakfast this morning. This stuff is expensive so I would never buy it for myself but my grandma picked up this bag for me. I mixed mine with some left over oatmeal, and topped it with banana slices, chopped almonds, agave and almond milk.

How great to have you back!!

aaah thank you!
what is the consistency of tofurky?

Well tofurky is a brand that has a lot of products but the one I had today was their “deli meat” style tofurky. It’s just like deli meat only a little tougher/chewier. I know that doesn’t make it sound appetizing but don’t let that deter you :)

Picnic with the boyfriend out in Sidney today. Sandwiches with tomato, avocado, cucumber, Tofurky turkey slices, spinach, mustard and vegan mayo. The sides are four bean salad, snaps peas and carrots with hummus, Kettle chips and dried mango. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the Tofurky but it was great. I’d never had them before and wanted to do something special for our picnic.

Aaaaaaaaand I’m back. I was tagged by this dear and I’ve always secretly wanted to do one of these so I’m stoked, thanks!

The Rules

1. Always post the rules

2. Answer the questions the person tagged you and write 11 new ones

3. Tag 11 new people and link them to the post

4. Let them know you tagged them

Questions:

1. How many people in real life know about your Tumblr?

Everyone! I love forcing people to look at it.

2. Which languages would you like to know and be able to use correctly?

Well…all of them. But realistically I would love to be fluent in Japanese and French (and English…duh)

3. Is there anything you would like to change about yourself?

I wish I was more interested in making /having friends

4. Do you sing while you have a shower?

No

5. Do you enjoy staying up late or going to be early?

I think both have their moments. I usually go to bed way too late though.

6. If you could go back in time and change something what would it be?

I would go back to two weeks ago and study more for the exams I just wrote :p

7. Do you have a song that improves your mood instantly when you hear it?

Anything by Perfume! But particularly their song Dream Fighter

8. What is/was your favorite subject in school?

I don’t really have favorite subjects, I have favorite professors. But I love my Pacific and Asian Studies courses.

9. Where do you want to be 10 years from now?

I’m completely open to anything. Maybe back from Japan after teaching English there and finishing my masters?

10. What would you choose: running on a treadmill or running in parks?

Parks!

11. What is a goal you want to achieve in May?

Get my camera repaired and renew my passport.

My Questions:

What is your favorite book?

What is one thing you could eat everyday for the rest of your life?

What is one song that reminds you of yourself?

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?

What are you most proud of about yourself?

What is your favorite season?

If you could pick your own scent what would you smell like?

Do you think you’re a happy person?

Do you drink? If so, what’s your favorite alcoholic beverage?

How do you feel about your first love now?

What is your favorite piece of jewelry or accessory?

Okay I’m cheating now. There’s no way I can find 11 people to tag. You guys need to stop talking to me anonymously! Any of my followers are welcome to do this. Don’t be shy!

Chopped veggies

Cauliflower

Zucchini

Green pepper

Mushrooms

Parnips

Kale

Potatoes

Carrots

Celery

Onion

Use any combo you want, celery, onion and carrots are essential though

Parsley

Veggie Stock

Red Hungarian Paprika (1 tblspn?)

Flour

Cook onion in small amount of oil until translucent

Add carrots and cook for 5 more minutes

Add flour and small amount of water to make roux

Remove from heat and add paprika

Put back on hot element and add remainder of veggies

Add more water

Incorporate all ingredients completely and simmer for 5-10 mintues

Add parsley, veggie stock, salt and pepper and simmer for half an hour or so, do not allow soup to reach a rolling boil

I don’t really use measurements, I just sort of eyeball everything, sorry about that. Also, I added barley to mine to bulk it up. One tip I can give is to cook everything on low heat. Your element should never be set to anything over 5. I want to try to recreate them. They were delicious!

please come back soon :c really miss you and your posts. hope you're well though x

Thanks for the incentive, love!
2 quarts water (8 cups)

2 red onions

2 celery stalks

1 fennel bulb, including fronds and stalks

4 large cloves of garlic

1 cup of mushrooms

1 head of cabbage

2 tspns fresh oregano

2 tblspns paprika

2 tspns each of sea salt, black pepper, and cayenne

2 whole sprigs of parsley

8 sprigs of parsley chopped

Add all ingredients, except chopped parsley, to pot and let boil for an hour. Remove whole parsley and add chopped.

I found this recipe in an issue of Omagazine that I was reading at my grandma’s house the other day. I just made it last night and it made a huge pot that is going to feed me all week. I found I had to add a little more water than the recipe called for. To bulk it up later on I’m going to add some white beans, brown rice and kale.

My sister just showed me this and I love this woman. The talk is called “Make Love, Not Porn”
